Quick Answer

Who this page is for: Homeowners wanting to avoid the most expensive and common kitchen design mistakes in tropical climates.

This page offers questions to help homeowners compare specifications and plan a kitchen renovation. Product suitability and project outcomes depend on the actual materials and site conditions.

Material Standard

ENF plywood is Caramella's default carcass specification unless another material is agreed. Confirm the exact board and finish specifications in the project documents.

1. Confirming the Cabinet Material

Ask the cabinet maker to identify the carcass and door materials, thicknesses, finishes, and any supplier documentation for the intended location. Material grade alone should not be treated as a guarantee against moisture damage.

2. Planning Ventilation with the Right Trade

Confirm whether the selected hood recirculates air or exhausts it outside, and check what ducting or electrical work is required. Discuss ventilation and moisture control with the relevant installer or building professional; these services may fall outside a cabinetry quotation.

3. Asking About Edge Treatment

Ask which edge material and adhesive are specified, which edges are covered, and how the edge treatment is applied. Caramella currently uses PUR adhesive for machine edge sealing; this does not imply a waterproof seal or a particular moisture-performance guarantee.

Confirm the selected kitchen kickboard material and base detail in the project specification.

4. Confirming Hardware Models

Ask for the brand and model of each hinge, runner, and accessory, together with applicable care and warranty information. Blum CLIP top is Caramella's primary hinge option, with DTC as an alternative; confirm the hardware for each project in writing.

5. Reviewing the Working Layout

Review the locations of the sink, cooking appliances, refrigerator, preparation area, and storage together. Check walkways and clearances against actual measurements, appliance requirements, and the needs of the people using the kitchen.

6. Planning the Cabinet-to-Ceiling Detail

Decide whether cabinets stop below the ceiling or extend to it. Consider access, cleaning, storage needs, and site measurements, then document any bulkhead or building work separately from cabinetry.

7. Confirming the Kitchen Countertop

Ask which countertop material, colour, thickness, edge profile, and installation scope are included. Caramella kitchen countertops are quartz stone only; confirm the selected product and care instructions in the written quotation.
