Quick Answer
Who this page is for: Homeowners comparing cabinet quotes and checking how exposed panel edges are treated.
Use these questions to compare the written specification, then review Caramella's current materials on the Build Standard page.
Product performance depends on the specified materials and the conditions in the room.
What edge sealing does
Edge banding covers an exposed panel edge. The selected band, adhesive, panel and application process should be considered together; the word “sealed” does not mean that a cabinet is waterproof. Water leaks, splash exposure and room waterproofing still need to be handled as part of the project scope.
Caramella's current edge-sealing specification uses PUR adhesive. The board, exposed edges and any project-specific exception should be named in the quotation or drawings.
EVA and PUR
EVA and PUR are adhesive types used in edge banding. Their properties and suitable process depend on the exact adhesive product, panel materials and manufacturer instructions. This page does not assign a universal performance rating to either type.
For a Caramella project, confirm that PUR edge sealing is included in the written specification. If a supplier makes a moisture, bond-strength, heat or service-life claim, ask for documentation for the exact product and process.
