03. Cabinetry Terms (Glossary)
Common terms explained in plain English.
Defining the standard terminology used in our quotations and technical drawings.
- Carcass
- The carcass is the cabinet box behind the doors. Caramella's standard carcass material is ENF plywood unless another material is agreed for the project. Confirm the selected board in the quotation.
- Gable End / End Panel
- A gable end or end panel covers an exposed side of a cabinet run. Confirm the selected panel finish in the project specification.
- Infill / Filler
- An infill or filler closes a planned gap between cabinetry and a wall, appliance or other feature. Its size and finish are confirmed from the site measurement and approved drawings.
- Waterfall Edge
- A waterfall edge continues the countertop material down the side of an island or cabinet. Confirm feasibility, joints and finish for the selected quartz stone product in the quotation and drawings.
- Kicker / Plinth
- The panel covering the recessed space below base cabinets. Confirm the selected kitchen kickboard material and base detail in the quotation.
- Pelmet
- If you stick LED light strips under your upper cabinets, you don't want the harsh bulbs shining right in your eyes when you sit at the dining table. A pelmet is a small lip we add just below the cabinet line to hide the fixture while letting the light wash down the wall.
04. Recommended Materials for Each Room
Confirm selected materials, fittings and care details for each room.
Room use, measurements and selected products inform the cabinetry specification. Confirm materials, finishes, fittings and care instructions for the project.
For a kitchen, confirm the door finish from the available Formica and PET samples, the carcass material, hardware and installation scope. Caramella's standard carcass is ENF plywood unless another material is agreed, edge sealing uses PUR adhesive, and kitchen countertops are quartz stone. Follow the selected products' care instructions.
For a dry kitchen or island, compare the available finish samples and plan storage, appliance positions and circulation around the measured room. Quartz stone is the current kitchen countertop specification; check care and product details for the selected material.
For a wardrobe, plan shelves, hanging space, drawers and door clearance around the room and items to be stored. Confirm the selected boards, finishes, fittings and care requirements in the project specification.

Review Your Project Specification
Use the approved quotation and production drawings to confirm the products and details selected for your project.
1. Edge-Banding Process
Genuine Caramella builds currently use PUR adhesive for edge banding.
2. Carcass material
Caramella's standard carcass material is ENF plywood unless another material is agreed for the project. Confirm the chosen board and finish in the quotation and production drawings.
3. Hardware Selection
Hardware is listed by brand and model in the approved project specification. Blum CLIP top is the primary hinge option, with DTC as an alternative. Optional HIGOLD storage accessories should be checked by selected model and cabinet fit against supplier documentation; do not infer a material specification from the brand name or a catalogue image.
