Commercial Cabinetry
A practical guide to coordinating cabinetry with equipment, services, surfaces and the wider fit-out scope.
Quick Answer
Who this page is for: Cafe and restaurant owners planning counters, back-of-house storage or service areas.
Use the checklist to prepare a cabinetry brief and identify which decisions belong to other fit-out trades.
Material Standard
Caramella's standard cabinet carcass is ENF plywood unless another material is agreed for the project. Kitchen countertops are quartz stone. Confirm the selected finishes, fittings and exclusions in the written quotation.
Start with the project scope
Commercial cabinetry is one part of a wider fit-out. Coordinate the cabinet layout with the selected equipment and service locations, then confirm electrical, plumbing, drainage, ventilation, fire-safety and building requirements with the people responsible for those works.
1. Prepare the equipment schedule
List each appliance and provide its make, model and manufacturer dimensions when known. Mark required service access, door swing, ventilation space and connection points on the coordinated plan. The relevant equipment supplier and fit-out professionals should confirm their own installation requirements.
2. Coordinate counters and storage
Separate preparation, washing, cooking, serving and storage needs in the brief. Note which counters are for equipment, which need open access and which require enclosed storage. For kitchen cabinetry, Caramella specifies quartz stone countertops; identify cut-outs, edges and any work by other trades in the approved quotation.
3. Confirm materials and fittings
Record the carcass material, door finish, edge detail, handles and internal fittings for each area. Caramella's standard carcass is ENF plywood unless otherwise agreed, with PUR edge sealing. Confirm the selected kickboard material and base detail in the project specification. These material descriptions do not replace the project specification or establish a waterproofing rating.
4. Agree who is responsible for each work
Ask the project team to document responsibilities for cabinetry, quartz templating and installation, equipment supply, plumbing, electrical work, drainage, ventilation, fire systems and building approvals. Caramella's cabinetry quotation covers only the items listed in its written scope.
5. Before approving fabrication
- Confirm the site measurements and the latest coordinated layout.
- Check that equipment models and service locations match the plan.
- Review cabinet sizes, door swings, clearances, finishes and accessory models.
- Read the written inclusions, exclusions, price and project sequence.
- Approve the production drawings and specification before fabrication begins.
Scope note: This is general cabinetry-planning guidance, not an engineering design, site inspection or regulatory assessment. Confirm applicable requirements with the relevant qualified professionals, supplier and authority for the project.
